It's a well-known fact that devastating spinal and brain injuries—or death—can occur after falling from a treestand. You also know, your mom would likely slap you silly if she knew you weren't taking every safety precaution possible while on a hunt ... like not wearing a safety harness.
That said, we're confident ya'll can take care of yourselves, but there are some hunters unable (or unwilling) to offer up the coinage to purchase a harness. Lacking a harness, they're susceptible to mamma's wrath and a trip to the hospital—or morgue.
"Inside Track" editors came across an awesome program called Harnesses for Hunters, run by Will Jenkins of "The Will to Hunt" blog. Will has made it a point to keep as many hunters safe as he possibly can.
If you would like to help Will in his mission, you can donate to Harnesses for Hunters. If, by chance, you happen to have a spare harness laying around, send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Harness Donation." The Harnesses for Hunters program will ensure it ends up in the hands of a fellow hunter.
