Texas PWD Warden Shoots, Kills Suspect

A Texas Parks & Wildlife Game Warden stationed in Bowie County was involved in an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon (1/26/12) in which the suspect was fatally shot.

The game warden was not injured in the incident, which occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. today on Cummings Lane southwest of Texarkana.

According to preliminary reports, the Game Warden had responded to assist the Bowie County Sheriff's Department.

The incident is being investigated by the Bowie County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Rangers and Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Internal Affairs Unit investigators.

The warden involved is Shawn Hervey, a January 2001 graduate of the TPWD Game Warden Academy.
